Why this page exists

If a site compares things or recommends anything, it owes you the criteria. This page is that disclosure. If something on this site does not follow what is written here, it is wrong and we want to know about it.

How we choose what to cover

We cover the questions people actually ask about this subject, prioritised by how much difference a clear answer makes and how badly the question is served elsewhere. We do not choose topics by what pays best.

How comparisons and recommendations are ordered

Every comparison is ordered by the stated criterion for that table, never by what we are paid. Where a row or card is commercial it carries a visible Partner label and is styled differently from editorial content. Where a category has no partner we say so rather than filling the gap with something that pays.

How the tools work

Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is transmitted, stored, logged or written into a web address — that matters most on the self-reflection tools, where the answers are nobody's business but yours. Each tool shows what it is based on and a plain statement of what it cannot tell you.

What we do with claims we cannot source

We write around them. If a figure, a study or a programme rule cannot be sourced and kept current, it does not appear as a fact — we explain the mechanism instead and link to a primary source.

Review and corrections

Pages are reviewed on a rolling basis and whenever the underlying facts change. Corrections are made in place and, where material, noted on the page.
